Business Spotlight – Abbott’s Frozen Custard
More Than Just A Dessert Stop
For Chelsea Trinh, Abbott’s Frozen Custard isn’t just a business— it’s a bridge between cherished childhood memories and a new ch apter for her family in Nolensville. Growing up in Rochester, New York, Abbott’s was woven into the fabric of her life. It was the place her family went after games, after school, and on warm summer nights. “Some of my favorite childhood memories involve going to Abbott’s with family and friends,” Chelsea says. “It’s been part of that community for generations, and it was special to us.”
So when the opportunity came to bring Abbott’s to Tennessee, it felt like a full-circle moment. Owning an Abbott’s location became a way to carry something meaningful from her own childhood into her family’s future—and to create that same sense of tradition and connection for families in Nolensville.
Nolensville, with its small-town feel and strong sense of community, felt like the perfect fit. Chelsea and her husband, Duke, noticed there weren’t any dedicated frozen custard shops in the area and saw an opportunity to create a gathering place for families and friends. Since opening, the response has been heartwarming. “Seeing families stop in after school or games, and recognizing familiar faces coming back, has been really special,” Chelsea shares.
Outside of Abbott’s, Chelsea is a speech-language pathologist and spends much of her time at home with their two young daughters. Duke is a dentist who owns and operates several practices in the Nashville area. Business ownership isn’t new to their family, but Abbott’s represents something different—a shared project built around family and community. Adding to that family feel, Chelsea’s mom serves as the general manager, making the shop truly family-run.
When customers walk through the doors, Chelsea hopes they feel welcomed, a little nostalgic, and genuinely happy. Whether it’s a quick after-school treat or a post-game celebration, Abbott’s is meant to be a place people return to again and again.
First-time visitors are encouraged to try the signature classics—vanilla, chocolate, or the beloved chocolate almond, a favorite among customers from Rochester. Everything is made fresh in-store daily, resulting in a rich, creamy custard. For something extra indulgent, Chelsea recommends the Arthur’s Peanut Butter Cup Sundae, topped with hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, chopped peanut butter cups, whipped cream, and a cherry.
Looking ahead, Chelsea hopes Abbott’s becomes more than just a dessert stop. With plans for spirit nights, fundraisers, and local sponsorships, her goal is simple: to give back to the community that has already made Abbott’s feel right at home in Nolensville.
