Where Dreams Take Flight
Jason and Tashara Pond’s move from Montana to Nolensville last summer was a leap of faith. It was not driven by a job offer or a perfectly mapped-out plan, but by a strong sense that God was leading their family into a new season.
In the middle of that transition, they began looking for the right dance studio for their 13-year-old daughter, Sydney, and found Elite Dance & Music. It checked every box, so much so that Sydney was enrolled before the first moving box was unpacked. Four days later, they learned the studio was set to close its doors forever.
“Sydney hadn’t even attended her first class yet, but we thought, ‘Maybe this is why we’re here. Maybe we can help keep this place from closing,’” Jason said. “By August 1, we had bought the studio and opened under new ownership.”
The Ponds say their goal is to honor the studio’s more than 20-year legacy of elite dance instruction and strong Christian values under the late Mrs. Cheri, while continuing to build something meaningful for Nolensville families.
Elite Dance & Music provides professional, high-quality dance training in an uplifting environment where students feel seen, challenged, and celebrated. While ballet remains the foundation, Elite also offers tap, jazz, hip hop, acro, contemporary, lyrical, musical theater, competitive dance team, and specialty workshops.
Under the Ponds’ leadership, Elite now offers year-round classes and a struc-
tured curriculum progression plan, giving students a clear path for growth and helping parents better understand their dancer’s journey.
The next session begins June 8, with Dance Team auditions June 18 and July 30. Elite recently wrapped up its spring recital and is preparing for a new winter production in November — a contemporary version of the classical ballet The Toy Shoppe, written by Courtney McLean and Mauriana Jessup.
“Taking this on has been a massive leap of faith,” Jason said. “But seeing these students grow in confidence, discipline, friendships, and joy makes every bit of the hard work worth it.”
