Family First Service
While interviewing a prospective new employee earlier this week, used car manager Matt Coop heard a familiar sentiment that’s become more common with each passing day. As the story goes, the candidate’s sole reason for applying was that he’d read that the same family has owned Walker Chevrolet for 97 years — and counting.
“He said he felt like this could be his forever home,” Coop said. “We hear that weekly now, and the reason why is because it’s not every day that you get to work in a big business like this and feel like you’re more than just another employee number.”
Yes, Walker Chevrolet’s selection of new and pre-owned cars, trucks, and SUVs is second to none. And yes, their service and parts keep your vehicle of choice on the road now and for years to come. But Walker Chevrolet’s defining characteristic is its history of building relationships with the guests, employees, and community it serves. At a time when large corporations are buying up family-owned companies, Walker has managed to buck that trend time and time again. They believe their history of success directly reflects their outstanding staff, hands-on approach, and maintaining a “wow factor” of customer service.
Nowadays, you’d be hard-pressed to find a family-owned auto dealer with a track record as pristine in the greater Nashville area.
“Other places might be family-owned but have been sold along the way to different families. It’s been the same family here since 1926,” Coop said. He has been with the company for five years, starting first in sales before moving into his newest role. “We believe in promoting from within, which has kept so many good people with us for many years.”
