Firefighter Brenden Evans First Responder

When Brenden Evans, a California native, moved to Tennessee, he not only found the love of his life, but also a job that suited his passion. In his words, he has found a clear sense of purpose in the state. The former military officer is enjoying his zest for life as a firefighter at the Nolensville Fire & Rescue Department.

“I enjoy a profession where no day is the same, and I love being a part of and working as a team,” said Evans, who was influenced by his father, who worked for a long time at the sheriff’s department for his hometown.

“I find my joy in helping people in need. Being part of a profession that feels like a family and is just a very fulfilling profession overall is something I cherish deeply,” he shared with a sense of pride and fulfillment.

Brenden played basketball all his life and was recruited to play basketball for Utah Valley University, where he spent a few years playing basketball and getting a degree in communication. After the study, he moved back to his hometown, where he was working on becoming a firefighter, but felt an urge to join the military instead. He then enlisted in the Army when he was later commissioned and served as an Infantry Officer. Evans was stationed at Fort Campbell for a few years, which brought him to Tennessee. He feels grateful for returning to the first responder job and says he loves everything about his career.

“I have had many different jobs and experiences in my life, and being a firefighter is by far the best one. I love working with the incredible, hardworking, and extremely talented people who make up this department and town. I am grateful to serve the extremely friendly and caring people who make up this community.”

While the profession of serving people directly is rewarding, it also comes with its share of challenges. Working 48 hours straight at times or witnessing families dealing with their worst nightmares is definitely not easy. However, Evans finds comfort in being able to help people in times of need.

“I am constantly reminded that I have chosen the best path in my life. It has taken a long time to get to this point, which is also why it is so special. Just by taking a step back and looking at this beautiful fire station, the wonderful people I get to work with, and the amazing community I get to be a part of and serve, it brings a huge smile to my face and I am incredibly happy and grateful.”

When off duty, Evans’ life is a whirlwind of activities. He can be found working on projects on his house and property, running his firearms business, meeting and working with the Army, or wrangling his four dogs. His love for hunting, shooting sports, hiking, and anything outdoors is a testament to his adventurous spirit and diverse interests.
