Focus on First Responders: Lieutenant Billy Oldham

Billy Oldham was born in 1986 and was actually running calls prior to being born thanks to his mother being a member of the Nolensville Volunteer Fire Department. Billy returned in 2012 to become a volunteer with the department himself and after a short period of time he determined that this was the right career path for him. While a member of the volunteer department held the ranks of Lieutenant and Training Officer.

In 2018 Billy would start his fulltime career with Gallatin Fire Department where he furthered his training and gained more experience. In 2021 Billy was hired as one of the first career firefighters with Nolensville Fire & Rescue. In July of 2022, Billy was promoted to Engineer on his same shift. He spent the next few years driving his crew around.

Billy just recently passed his National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians exam for Basic EMT which allows him to receive his state medical license as a Basic EMT. Earlier this year, the department held the eligibility exam for Lieutenant and Billy was the top ranked candidate. This included a fire officer written exam, our physical performance assessment, and a fire incident scenario utilizing software that displays smoke and fire from pictures of actual buildings in Nolensville and simulated radio traffic to carry out orders.

As of July 1st, 2025, Billy Oldham was promoted to Lieutenant. Lieutenant Oldham beings a local familiarization to the department. He is well known in the community and has seen the growth to the town as well as been through the more recent development of the fire department. He is also the manger for the department’s uniform program and works with local vendors to ensure we are getting the uniforms we need as well as a high-quality product. Lieutenant Oldham is a friendly outgoing individual that can be seen working out when not serving the community.
