Nolensville Duo Qualifies for AAU Junior Olympics
Local Athletes Set to Compete on National Stages
Hailey Burke – AAU Junior Olympic National Qualifier
Hailey Burke of Nolensville High School advanced to the AAU Track & Field Junior Olympics in Houston TX. She runs with the Precision Track Club out of Nashville, TN. She qualified in 2 events: Heptathlon and the open 100M hurdles. This will be her 7th year competing in the AAU summer track & field competition. The Heptathlon is comprised of 7 events that spans over the course of 2 days. The first day she will compete in 4 events (100M hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200M dash) and the 2nd day, do 3 events (long jump, javelin and 800M dash). She competes in the 15-16 year old age group this year and is the youngest in the field having just turned 15 on July 26th. The future is bright for this young lady. Good luck Hailey!
McCoy Hunter – AAU Junior Olympic National Qualifier
McCoy Hunter, a rising seventh grader at Mill Creek Middle School most recently qualified for the AAU Junior Olympic National Track and Field Meet in Humble, Texas. Running for Precision Track Club of Nashville, McCoy advanced through both the District and Region-6 AAU track meets held earlier this summer in Knoxville that included athletes competing from the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. McCoy qualifies for the Junior Olympic National Meet in three distance events: the 800, 1500, and 3,000-meter races. A multi-sport athlete, McCoy also runs cross country and plays both baseball and basketball.
