An Interview With NHS Flag Football Coach, John Smith
How many years have you coached at Nolensville High?
This is my 7th year coaching at NHS and my 4th year as the head flag football coach.
How excited are you to be part of this new TSSAA sport?
We are very excited. We were excited to be a part of starting flag football in the state of Tennessee 4 years ago and we are glad that becoming a sanctioned TSSAA sport has come to fruition and the freshmen players we had on that 1st team are able to experience their work paying off.
What are your expectations of the 2025 Team?
We have quite a few experienced returning players so I expect us to play hard and be competitive in every game we have. This team and these seniors have seen what it takes to be successful and I believe they are ready to put together the best season we’ve ever had at NHS.

10/12 of this year’s seniors have played multiple years and at least 5 have played all 4 years.
Also anything else you want to say about this year’s team?
Coach VanWormer and I are so excited to go out and compete with this team. We have coached and developed this group and we’ve seen them all grow up along the way and we can’t wait to see what this team is capable of doing.
