On the Court with NHS Boys Basketball Head Coach Drew Guidice

How many years have you coached at Nolensville High?

This is my third year at Nolensville.

What are your expectations of the 2024-25 Team?

We have high expectations for our team this year. This team is a tough group who cares about each other and cares about winning. Those attributes should help us against a tough non-district schedule and competing in the best, deepest district in the highest classification in the state. We are talented and tough enough to beat anyone on any night.

Who are your key Seniors?

MJ Taylor has played a lot of minutes in his career and is a leader for our team. Gabe Rossi and Jonah Osborne were hidden on a JV team that went 26-3 last year and are ready to prove themselves on the Varsity level. We’re very excited for the two of them to surprise others in our District. It seems every team each year has a Senior who comes out of nowhere. Amir Rahman brings great energy to practice and the locker room and deserves to be mentioned for his selflessness.

Top players to watch?

Kyson Barney was an All-District player last year as a Sophomore and led us in scoring 9 or 10 times. He’s a talented scorer who makes plays on both ends with his length defensively. Chris Johnson showed flashes last year and has worked this off-season. We expect him to be one of the better big men in our District. BJ Hall has started games as a Freshmen and Sophomore and leads our defensive intensity. Kael Barney is a very athletic, lefty shooter with great passing vision. These 4 Juniors will certainly be in the starting lineup and determine a lot of who we are. Oliver Bender will join from the football field at some point later this fall. We look for his athleticism to help us defensively and on the boards. He can knock down the 3 and brings more toughness to us.

Any new players that will make an impact this year?

Already mentioned Gabe Rossi, he had a great Summer and we’re ready for him to help. Brody Cooper had a fantastic Summer and is such a smart, tough, physical glue type player who wants to win. Won’t be surprised at all if he finds minutes and carves out a role.

What should fans know about this   year’s team?

Please come watch us! These guys will play really hard and care about each other. We hope that shows on the court. Nearly every single boy in the program went to Mill Creek or Sunset for Middle School, this year’s roster doesn’t have a single transfer come in during high school from the outside. Every single guy will have spent time developing on our own Freshmen or JV team here at NHS. They want to represent Nolensville as their hometown.

Also anything else you want to say about this year’s team?

I love this team.
