Scouting For Food

Annual Food Drive by the Boy Scouts of America Benefits Nolensville Food Pantry

February 8th, the Nolensville and nearby Scout Units (Pack 297, Troop 298, Troop 892, Crew 299 and Ship 2910; Pack 124, Troop 248) picked up over 6,300 pounds of food from Nolensville residents and delivered it to the Nolensville Food Pantry. Scouting for Food is an annual food drive by the Boy Scouts of America that collects non-perishable food for local food banks.

The Scouts and their families distributed over 3,000 door hangers with food drive information across over 20 Nolensville neighborhoods on the first Saturday of February. The next week, Scouts collected donations and brought them to the Pantry where they set to work weighing, checking expiration dates, sorting and packing the non-perishables throughout the morning. “The generosity of this town is beyond amazing!” said David Schepmann, Committee Chair for Nolensville boys’ Troops 298 and girls’ Troop 892. “I know Debbie Noland at the Nolensville Food Pantry is thankful for all of the donations, and we hope this will have a major impact for the community.”
