Southern Air & Electric
Providing Residential and Commercial Services For Every Season!
Scott King comes from a family who has called Williamson County home for more than 200 years. For him, building a business and giving back to his community has always been a calling.
“I began my career at sixteen, working weekends and summers at Tidwell Electric,” Scott recalls. “After college, I became an Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Jefferson Pilot Insurance in Brentwood, but I quickly realized a necktie felt more like a noose. I continued my education, earned my electrical license, then my master mechanical license. At twenty-three, I took a leap of faith and started my own business. When I completed that first job on my own, I knew I could succeed if I worked hard, provided quality service, and treated customers right.”
That leap became Southern Air & Electric, a company that has been “turning wrenches” for more than forty years. Scott admits there have been ups and downs, but says he couldn’t be happier with his decision. He often quotes his favorite song, Taking Care of Business, as both a motto and a way of life.
Off the clock, Scott is a husband, father to three children, and a Master Mason. He belongs to two Masonic Lodges, serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Millcreek Masonic Lodge #775 in Nolensville, and is a Knights Templar. He also serves as Vice President of the Widows’ Sons, an appendant body of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee. Through these organizations, Scott and fellow members raise funds for underprivileged children, donate to food banks, and support Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit that provides beds for children in need.
“All three are philanthropy-based,” Scott explains. “It’s about making an impact where it matters.”
Back at work, Scott keeps a hands-on approach: “My hands are on every project we do. From changing a lightbulb to installing mechanical systems in shopping malls, each job requires detail and care. We don’t have customers—we have relationships and neighbors. When you build strong relationships with integrity, you never worry about the next customer.”
That philosophy has helped Southern Air & Electric thrive in an industry where trust is everything. “Happy customers are the best advertisement. I’ve even lost money on a job just to make sure a client was satisfied. Everyone’s home is their castle, and our job is to help them feel safe and comfortable.”
Today, the company is fully licensed in electrical, heating, air, and plumbing. They handle new installs, maintenance, duct cleaning, and more. “I’ve got a warehouse full of gadgets—high and tech—to handle whatever a job demands,” Scott says with a grin.
“They were incredibly fast and affordable. They needed to come back a second time because a further issue persisted, and they didn’t even charge me for that second visit or the work they did to get my air-conditioning unit fixed. Highly recommend!”

“Quick response. Owner came out after a long day to assess our situation and as more work was required, explained what the next visit would entail. The technician who came out to do the repair was efficient and friendly. Will definitely use their services again in the future!”
