The Amish House

A TRADITION OF CRAFTSMANSHIP PASSED FROM THEIR FAMiLY TO YOURS

After spending the last six years in the historic Nolensville creamery building, The Amish House opened its new showroom in Nolensville on March 1, marking a new era for this celebrated Amish furniture retailer. The move not only provides a larger space to continue its commitment of bringing quality, handcrafted, hardwood furniture to the Nolensville area, but it will also allow them to expand their offerings to include custom-made cabinetry, built with the same precision and craftsmanship their customers have come to rely on.

After years of living in the Nolensville area, owners Kurt and Lisa Fuchs launched The Amish House in 2017, first online and then with their Nolensville storefront in 2019. The couple wanted to share their love for Amish furniture and its unmatched durability and beauty with the community but wanted a store that reflected their values.

“We wanted to create an environment that was different. We didn’t want it to feel like a furniture store with high pressure sales. We wanted people to feel welcome and to develop relationships with people,” shares Lisa.

Crafted by Hand for Your Home

Since its inception, The Amish House has felt less like a typical furniture store and more like a gallery where every piece of furniture comes with a story. Every table, every bed set, every bookcase is built by skilled Amish and Mennonite craftsmen who believe quality is non-negotiable.

Unlike mass-produced furniture made with veneers or particle board, every piece begins with solid hardwood—hand-selected and built to last. Customers can choose from a range of woods and finishes, tailoring each piece to their home and lifestyle. Dining tables are sized to fit both busy weeknight meals to holiday gatherings. Bedroom sets balance beauty with durability. The precision and thought behind every piece of furniture is a trademark of Amish craftsmanship.

“We try to honor Amish heritage, and to the Amish, family comes first. Craftsmanship is literally handed down from generation to generation,” says Kurt. “What makes Amish furniture different is that it is not mass produced. It’s hand crafted in family-owned shops. Customers can basically make their own furniture. With us, you get to pick your own wood, stain, size, and our guys make it.”

This level of customization applies to everything the store offers. Kurt and Lisa help their  guests through style options, wood samples, and stains, often sketching out designs from scratch. If you have a tricky space or a beloved piece you’re trying to match, they’ll help you adjust dimensions, storage, or design details so your new furniture feels like it truly belongs in your home.

Passion Before Profit

“We make it a point to meet people where they’re at,” Lisa shares. “All of us are at different stages in life. We always ask our customers how we can help them get what they need at their price point.”

At The Amish House, they live by the slogan, “Passion comes before profit,” a philosophy that runs through every decision Kurt and Lisa make. In an era where big businesses often treat customers with apathy or even contempt, where industries cut corners and sacrifice quality just to shave off a few dollars of cost, the Fuchs’ desire to put their customers before profit is not only refreshing, but it has also proven to be a business model that customers from around the country have come to embrace.

Today, they ship to customers in 49 states, a testament to the trust and loyalty the Fuchs have earned from their customers. This customer-centric mindset is carried out by every member of their dedicated team, which will soon include their daughter. For families weighing the choice between big-box stores or an investment in heirloom-quality furniture and cabinetry, The Amish House offers you a choice that simply can’t be matched.

At The Amish House, you’re not just buying a table, a bed, or a bank of cabinets, you’re choosing how you want your home to look and feel five, ten, even twenty years from now. Plus, by supporting a local, family-owned business that prides itself on providing quality, American-made goods, you, too, are choosing passion over profit.
The new  Nolensville showroom simply represents the next step in that tradition—a tradition that you and your family are invited to join.
