The Healing Power of Nature and Community
Not long ago, Shandi and Ben Higgins lived a fast-paced, glitzy life in Los Angeles. Ben had a successful career in the tech industry, while Shandi — a former Miss USA in 2004 — made a name for herself, hosting several game shows and competing on Season 4 of Dancing With the Stars. On the surface, things couldn’t get much better, especially after they started having children. And yet, they yearned for a simpler life built around two words — community values.
Naturally, they did what most of us would do — they packed their bags for Nolensville, and set out to create an entirely different lifestyle. Fast forward to today, and that lifestyle is alive and well with Hive on the Hollow.
“I used to be that person who was terrified of a spider. Now I’m a beekeeper, and I’m out here catching sheep and buying new animals for the property. I think we have 50 now,” Shandi said with a laugh. She and Ben now live on 15 acres of gorgeous farmland. “All three of our kids … they don’t remember what life was like
before Tennessee.
“We built Hive on the Hollow to bring our community together, built around nature. There’s something for everyone.”
So, what is Hive on the Hollow? This family-centric, agri-tourism event space was founded in 2023 to unite the community in a safe and fun environment. It comes complete with a petting zoo, a fishing pond, children’s activities, live music, yoga, and organic products for your family’s enjoyment. The best part is that it’s small and intimate. You don’t have to deal with long lines or hoards of people. Simply put — bring a lawn chair, claim your own quiet space, and spend time outdoors surrounded by nature and animals.
Shandi and Ben mean it when they say there’s a little something
for everyone.
